The sequel to 2010’s Red Dead Redemption has just come out and we can confidently say that Rockstar’s 2nd outing is a worthy and far superior follow-up to the classic Western.
Unlike most sequels, Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place 12 years before the events of the first game. The game follows the Dutch van der Linde gang, with you playing as Arthur Morgan, the exceedingly cool right-hand man. The game is set in 1899, a time where American outlaws are being hunted down by the government, essentially making them an endangered species. It features a whole plethora of characters, including a few familiar faces including John Marston, the first game’s protagonist.
Once again, Rockstar has outdone itself, creating a sprawling world that is teeming with life and little moments that make the experience that much richer and meaningful. At the end of this 60-hour journey, you will be feeling a bittersweet sense of longing and pride. That being said, this game is not for those with short attention spans. It is an epic, in every sense of the word.
